The third race weekend of the rhino's GT Series brings the power-GTs to Belgium where they will take part in the Super Prix event on the former F1 track of Zolder on July 8 and 9.
An interesting program has been prepared for the viewers and for the actors. It includes the Euroboss Series for historic Formula 1 cars, the Dutch silhouette touring cars of the BRL Series, the Dutch Supercar Challenge (DSC), football, and of course the rhino's GT Series. Some of the fastest cars will even start in more than one series during this event. The organisers of the rhino’s GT Series have arranged the program in such a way that teams can take part in the races of the rhino’s GT Series as well as those of the DSC.
In the youthful rhino's GT Series, which had such a phenomenal 2006 season start, the big question is if the Class leaders will be able to maintain their positions after the second event in Belgium. Wolfgang Kaufmann showed his superiority at the Nürburgring with a start-to-finish victory in the Wieth Racing Ferrari 550 Maranello. But the international competition struck back in Spa Francorchamps. Both the Dutch Buurman-duo with a Marcos LM 600 and the Swedish Behrens/Wallinder Team with a Viper took a win in the EGT1 Class at the illustrious Belgian track in the Ardennes. Because he has achieved good results in all races, Robert Wallenborn with his dark Porsche 996 GT2 is at the top of the leaderboard ahead of Kaufmann and Buurman junior.
The wide selection of cars on the grid in the highest division will provide a lot of excitement on the track – the fight for the trophies in Class EGT1 will be settled between Porsche, Ferrari, Viper, Marcos, V8SuperSTAR, Corvette and Ultima drivers. There will also be some fast newcomers, such as the English Ricky Cole Xero Competition Team with Corvette C5-R. During the coming races the teams at the top of the leaderboard will be put under high pressure by Swiss pilot Pierre von Mentlen (V8SuperSTAR) and by Austrian driver Gottfried Grasser (Ultima GT1).In Class EGT2 it is Heinz Bert Wolters in the Porsche and Kurt Thiim in the V8 STAR who need to be overtaken by the competition. Both have been at the highest place on the rostrum already this year. Will Dutchman Peter van der Kolk with his Marcos Mantis be able to defend his Class leading position? And will it be the Porsche or the Ferrari pilots who will be allowed to take home the Class EGT3 championship trophy at the end of the season?
Football with the rhino's GT Series
The whole world is in a whirl about football. Nobody can withdraw himself from the World Championship in Germany. And nobody who is fond of both disciplines needs to do without the final plays on the grass because of the fact that he is at the races. Also the rhino's GT Series will have a football party. On Saturday July 8 the match for third place in the Championship will be shown live from Stuttgart on a big TV screen in the rhino’s party tent.
