GP2 Season Ending Charity Event

GP2 Series 2006 Prize Giving Ceremony featuring 5th Annual Winning Attitudes Awards The  GP2  series  and  Gonzalo  Rodriguez  Memorial  Foundation  (GRMF) announced  the continuation  of  their  partnership.  For  the  5th  consecutive  year  the  GRMF  will host the Winning Attitudes Awards (WAA), in Monza, Italy. This year’s charity dinner will be held together with the GP2 Series 2006 Prize Giving Ceremony on Sunday September 10, 2006.

The GP2 Series and GRMF  will  continue  the  partnership  forged  in  2005  in  order  to  have  a  fantastic  season  finale, award  the  championship  trophies  and,  of  course,  to  pay  tribute  to  a  much  missed  driver  and person and raise funds for the organisation that carries his name.

Racing  driver  Gonzalo  “Gonchi"  Rodríguez  was  born  in  Uruguay  and  his promising career was cut abruptly on September 11, 1999. From that day on, Gonzalo’s legacy has grown and touched many  people.  Throughout  his  career,  all  over  the  world,  Gonzalo  wore  a  broad  smile  and championed  strong  family  and  humanitarian  values.  Today,  the  positive  spirit,  warmth  and generosity he espoused remain core values within the Gonzalo Rodriguez Memorial Foundation.

This charity event has become a tradition over recent years and it is a recognition to the leading lights in the GP2 Series, F1´s leading feeder category. On this weekend international motor sport pauses   to   recognize   the   importance   of   team   spirit   as   well   as  the  core  values  of  social responsibility by rewarding participants for their winning attitudes.

Who will the 2006 winners be?

This year the Award's list was amended so all the members of the GP2 Series will be recognised.

These  were  some  of  the  2005  WAA´s  winners.  Any prediction who this year’s winners will be?

A special Award that honours a special person For  a  second  consecutive  year  the  Gonzalo  Rodriguez  Special  Award  will  be  awarded  at  the WAA.  Last  year  Maestro  Pablo  Atchugarry  created  a  magnificent  marble  piece  inspired  by Gonzalo. A replica of this sculpture is delivered to the person among the GP2 Series and F1 who holds  the  same  values  as  Gonzalo.
