Oval Done
The NASCAR Busch Series heads for one of the smaller tracks this week, the one-mile New Hampshire International Speedway. The Speedway is another circuit where the track is almost entirely surrounded by spectator seating. In fact, it was the first facility to draw more than 100,000 fans for a one-day sports event, in 2000. New Hampshire marks the mid-point of a gruelling 16-week period where the NASCAR train has a race every weekend. Motors TV will be showing all the action, live, throughout the race.

Touring the line
The fifth round of the 2006 British Touring Car Championship takes the teams north to the Croft circuit, where they will find plenty of opportunities to overtake. The fourth round at Thruxton saw SEAT’s Darren Turner make an impressive debut to the season, in place of James Thompson, with a pair of third places. However, Thompson will return to the UK after his World Touring Car outings, with a view to climbing up the leader-board from fourth. Ahead of him is team-mate Jason Plato, with Matt Neal and Colin Turkington heading the points. As usual, Motors TV will be showing all three BTCC races live, along with the day’s support races.

Lords of the ‘Ring
On a weekend packed with action, Motors TV has highlights of the third round of the 2006 Le Mans Series, the 1000km of the Nurburgring. After racing in Istanbul and Spa, the Pescarolo team heads the tables, having won both rounds, while the Lister team and Swiss Spirit are joint second, with a second place apiece. The race offers an exceptional prospect – 1000kms (195 laps) or six hours of racing on the new Nurburgring circuit, where unexpected and inclement weather can often play a major part in the outcome of a race. Motors TV will be showing highlights of the action from the third round.

Red Bud gives you wins
The fifth round of the American AMA MotoCross championship heads for Red Bud in Michigan and Motors TV will be showing highlights of both the 125cc and the 250cc classes. Kawasaki rider James Stewart will be making his return, having sat out the previous round after injuring himself. New Zealander Ben Townley is also planning to return, after recovering from a knee injury since the start of the season. Ricky Carmichael tops the points table, having dominated the season so far, with three wins and a second from the first four rounds.

Nitro-glittering
The 2006 Australian Snap-On Nitro Champs meeting provided some of the closest and most spectacular drag racing action the west coast of Australia had seen for some time. A staggering array of machinery, boasting up to 7000bhp, put in a series of sub-5 second ¼ mile runs, regularly clocking up more than 300mph as they crossed the line. Drive of the day award went to Phil Read, as he lost engine power for the first 60 feet of his semi-final run but still managed to put in a 300mph pass. Motors TV is showing highlights of the meeting in two parts, with all the thrills and spills from the West Sidney International Dragway.

Road racing and street partying
After its celebrated visit to the UK at Brands Hatch, the DTM championship returns to its homeland for the fifth round at the Norisring, a street circuit in the heart of the German city of Nurnberg. A real party atmosphere descends for the race, with fans building their own stands to watch the race from. In fact, many feel the Norisring is matched only by the Monaco Grand Prix, in terms of the fan’s appreciation of the action. Motors TV will of course be showing qualifying live on Saturday while the full race will also be shown live, on Sunday afternoon.

On the Oregon trail
The sixth round of the American Le Mans Series hits Portland in Oregon this week, the second race in as many weekends for the drivers, after their inaugural visit to Salt Lake City in Utah. The 2005 race saw all four classes setting new lap records and with the Audi R10 in P1 and the Porsche Spyders in P2, expect that tradition to continue. Once again, Motors TV will have the full 2¾-hour race delayed, as live, with all the action as it unfolded on the Portland circuit.
