Epton to represent Bombardier
AT FARNBOROUGH AIRSHOW Formula Renault UK Championship front-runner David Epton will swap his ‘slicks and wings’ racing car for wings of a different kind next week at the 45th staging of the world renowned Farnborough International Airshow.The 25-year-old is set to appear at the 2006 aviation spectacular on behalf of his key sponsor Bombardier Learjet and as an element of the company’s presence at Farnborough, an example of one of the company’s Learjet aircraft will form part of an intriguing static display alongside David’s Scorpio Motorsport-run Formula Renault car.Beginning on Monday, 17th July, and running until Sunday, 23rd July, this year’s show is expected to be the biggest in Farnborough’s history, attracting exhibitors from more than 30 countries. David will appear in the dedicated Business Aviation Park zone on Tuesday and Wednesday, which are trade-only days, and then the Learjet display will transfer for Thursday and Friday to the front of TAG Aviation’s new hi-tech passenger terminal on the north-side of the business aviation airport.“It’s certainly a great honour to be representing Bombardier Learjet at Farnborough, the company’s partnership has been essential in enabling me to continue my racing career and I’m delighted to able to lend my support at what is the world’s most prestigious airshow and a vital part of Bombardier Learjet’s marketing programme”, said David.“The worlds of motor racing and aviation are intrinsically linked in many ways so we hope the presence of my Formula Renault car will help attract even more attention to the stand, offering something a little bit different for the many visitors.”He added: “Since our return to Formula Renault things have gone very well and we’re getting ever closer to our first podium finish in the championship. We’re at Croft in North Yorkshire this weekend for the ninth and 10th rounds of the season so hopefully we’ll arrive at Farnborough next week able to celebrate two fantastic results.”Regarded as the most high-profile event on the aviation calendar, next week’s airshow has even more importance for Bombardier Learjet which has its European & Middle East aircraft sales headquarters at Farnborough. David also originally hails from the neighbouring Hampshire town of Fleet, although currently lives in Preston, Lancashire.Rounds nine and 10 of the 2006 Formula Renault UK Championship take place this weekend, 15th/16th July, at Croft Circuit in North Yorkshire.
