Eurotech to run Ascari programme

in British GTIn 2007, David and Godfrey Jones will switch to one of the stunning Ascari KZ1 GTs for their British GT campaign. The car will be prepared by Team Eurotech, as the Leicestershire twins mount an all-out assault on the GT3 category. The KZ1 will take in a full British GT season as well as the Spa 24 Hours, when team boss Mike Jordan is likely to share driving duties. Jordan is already working closely with Ascari on the build specification, ensuring that the car is finished to the exacting standards that are customary on the Jones's cars. The Jones twins have raced in Porsches with Team Eurotech since 1994 with numerous wins, including five seasons at the forefront of British GT. Prior to switching to racing, they rallied with great success in the 1970s, competing with drivers like Malcolm Wilson and Pentti Airikkala. "We were looking for a new challenge," said David Jones. "With the GT2 category being so weak now, our view was that GT3 will be very strong in 2007 and it is the obvious place to be. After visiting Ascari, the KZ1 was the stand-out car to have.""We've ordered a car, which will run in the colours of Preci-Spark," continued Godfrey Jones. "We hope to start testing in the autumn and we plan to have a very serious autumn and winter test programme. We can't wait to get our hands on it!"Jordan is looking forward to working with the Jones' on the race development of the BMW V8-engined car. "This a planned expansion for Team Eurotech and will run perfectly in parallel with our British Touring Car Championship programme in 2007 and beyond. It will be fantastic to have a GT programme to really get out teeth into."
