Worcesterball is ready for blast off

Local car club takes to the road

Performance enthusiasts plot 200-mile 'Worcesterball' road trip

Residents in the Midlands will witness one of the most spectacular sights ever seen in the region next month when a convoy of 40 cars, all belonging to members of the Worcestershire Japanese Performance Club (WJPC), take to the road to show off their cars and promote their activities.

The 'Worcesterball' event, organised with the consent of the police, will be the largest specialist vehicle rally to ever be hosted in the Midlands area and will travel on a secret treasure hunt-style route on Saturday, August 5.

After crossing a start ramp outside the premises of title sponsor, Nemesis UK, a Bromsgrove-based supplier of body styling kits and other performance accessories for Japanese cars, each of the 40 crews will drive their stunning machines through Redditch, Leamington Spa, Evesham, the Cotswolds, Cheltenham, Gloucester, and Ledbury.

The event will finish in Malvern later the same day where club members will come together to enjoy a champagne reception and a post-event party at the Great Malvern Hotel.

The Worcestershire Japanese Performance Club has chosen to organise the event as a way of promoting its activities to local car enthusiasts and hopefully attracting new members with a shared interest in the Japanese car scene.

"Like any club, we are always keen to bring in new members and taking to the roads in our cars - which are all unique and eye-catching - is the best way to do this," said organiser, Ash Skipp. "We think the 'Worcesterball' will make for a really impressive sight and we're all expecting a really good reaction."

Nemesis UK managing director, Paul Tomlinson, added: "The Japanese performance car scene is booming at the moment and I'm delighted to be associated with such a forward thinking and friendly club like WJPC.After we've filled them up with a complimentary Bacon sandwich and a cup of coffee at the start, I'm sure everyone will have a really memorable day."
