Spedeworth South showcases the past and the present form of stock car racing with a visit from the Historic Saloon Stock Cars as well as action from the current crop of formulas on Sunday July 23rd at 1.30pm.
The Lightning Rods will be in action on the day in their Lowman and Jones and Yokohama Tyres racing series. These big and powerful Ford Sierra based machines always provide plenty of pedal to the metal action at Bovingdon, where the sheer bulk of the cars makes overtaking a move for only the bravest of drivers. This does not deter drivers from making such moves, with just inches between their competitors and the unforgiving safety fence. Not for nothing are the cars dubbed ‘Frightening Rods.’
The all-action Bangers will also provide as few hair raising moments as they attempt to wrestle their clapped out M.O.T. rejects around the track and survive long enough to see the chequered flag raised in Round 6 of their always entertaining track championship.
The stars of the future will be on the track when the Ministox (piloted by young up and coming 11-16 year olds) contest their Hertfordshire Championship and Round 8 of the Felsham Garage track championship.
Rounding off what promises to be a great day’s racing the Historic Saloon Stock Cars will take to the track to bring back some fender bending memories from the glory days of British stock car racing.
With a great value for money, four formula racing programme, free parking, and a great view of all the action from high-banked spectator areas, Bovingdon (situated off B4005 Bovingdon, Nr Hemel Hempstead, Herts, on the airfield complex) will provide another action packed day of racing when the green flag waves on July 23rd
