At the EuroSpeedway Holiday Race
The rhino’s GT Series offers the right pastime during the holiday period. The power athletes will take part in the Belcar Holiday Race event on July 22 and 23 on the EuroSpeedway Lausitz for race number seven and eight.
The youthful racing series saw no less than five different winners in Class EGT1 in six races. Robert Wallenborn consolidated his Class lead by winning the Super Prix in Zolder. The ambitious Porsche pilot is in the lead with 99 points before Chaouki Chikhani with 50 points and first season winner Wolfgang Kaufmann with 43 points.
Wallenborn with the six-cilinder boxer engine is determined to keep the V8, V10 and V12 monsters, and of course the other Porsche competitors, in check. This will not be easy, the competition at Lausitz will be very tough. Next to the fast Libanese, it is the Ferraris of Wieth Racing in particular which are absolute winning candidates.
Zolder newcomers Arjan van der Zwaan and Marcel Norbart like the rhino’s races and share a Ferrari 550 Maranello. “We look forward to compete for the overall victory with the Ferrari, the Porsche will stay at home this time“, said the Dutch fighters. It is possible that the second supersportscar of the Ferrari team from Wessling will be raced by Bernhard ten Brinke and Gosse Stielstra. Ten Brinke, who competes in the Megano Trophy, was already at the wheel of the Ferrari at Spa-Francorchamps.
Fighting spirit and newcomers – EGT2 Class
The EGT2 Class saw a change on the leaderboard at Zolder. Swissracing pilot Kurt Thiim climbed to the first position with 67 points due to his win in the second race. Peter van der Kolk with his Marcos Mantis moved back to second place with 60 points due to engine problems. Charles Brugman collected 54 points with a consistent performance and manoevred himself into third place in Class. It is clear that the Dutch competitors in Class EGT2 will not allow the Danisch driver to run away from them. "If the car does not let me down, I will make it very difficult for Kurt", says van der Kolk friendly showing his fighting spirit.
It is unlikely that Wim Noorman with the Eurotech Marcos Mantis will support his fellow countryman catching up. The rhino’s newcomer is manufacturer of Mantis race cars at his factory close to Venlo and he will use the opportunity to show his product in the most favourable way.
In Class EGT3 Dirk Schulz is very pleased with his Class lead. The Topper Team Porsche driver is ten points ahead of Nürburgring winner Martin Dechent and of Arkin Aka both with 38 points.
