Two Brands Races for Porsche Club Title Challengers
Brands Hatch is the venue for latest two round of the competitive Porsche Club Championship, the famous Kent circuit always providing tight racing and this weekend, July 22nd and 23rd, will be no exception. Ian White has been the man on form for most of the season, but in the most recent races at Cadwell Park two weekends ago he could only manage a pair of thirds with title rival Mark McAleer outscoring him as James Neal took a brace of wins.
Cadwell saw Neal's first victories, but consistent scoring this season has seen him now third in the points table in his 964 Carrera 2. McAleer closed to within 13 points of White after Cadwell, the 968 racer having won the second race of the season at Snetterton but not having stood on the top step of the podium since. It had been five wins in a row for White before Neal's Cadwell dominance, and the leader will be keen to return to his winning ways.
The points system for the Club Championship means that the overall champion can come from any class, and the closest rival to White is currently Richard Lambert, who heads Class Two and is just eight points behind overall. It was Marcus Carniel who set the class pace at Cadwell Park, taking a win on each day of the weekend, and he is on form having also taken a class win at Silverstone in the meeting prior to that. The fight for Class Two honours usually takes place right at the front of the field, and with Ben Demetriou and 2005 champion Tom Segrue right up in the points table, will continue this weekend.
Alex Eacock has set the pace in Class Three in recent races, closing in on championship leader Chris Berry to be just 15 points behind.
There is a race each day over the weekend for the Porsche Club runners, with a 25-minute qualifying session at 9.45 on Saturday morning followed by a 30-minute race at 13.09. Sundays race is again 30-minutes and is scheduled for 13.32 on the BRSCC's precise timetable.
