Ian Global Shipping Added to Impressive List of Rolex Sports Car Series Contingency Programs
As part of an overall Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Special Reserve contingency program worth more than $1.4 million, Ian Global Shipping recently became the 41st contingency sponsor, offering awards for both Daytona Prototype and GT class competitors.
The Baltimore-based company’s contingency sponsorship provides winners of each class $300 certificates for shipping and logistics services. Second-place finishers receive $200 certificates, while third-place finishers receive $100 certificates. The program runs through the remainder of the 2006 season, and race cars must carry the Ian Global Shipping decal to be eligible for the awards.
“The long list of contingency programs in the Rolex Series has paralleled the growing number of teams in our paddock,” Grand American President Roger Edmondson said. “We are delighted to have Ian Global Shipping join the Grand-Am family, and their generosity gives teams extra incentive to score podium finishes in the most competitive form of road racing in North America.”
In addition to the series contingency program, Ian Global Shipping also sponsors the No. 35 TPC Racing Porsche GT3 in the GT class. Owner/driver Michael Levitas was joined by Randy Pobst, Ian Baas and Spencer Pumpelly in the team’s No. 36 Ajilon Consulting Porsche GT3 to capture the GT class victory in the prestigious Rolex 24 At Daytona, which opened the 2006 season.
