SUNDAY 3RD SEPTEMBER: MARATHON DAY ON MOTORS TV

Motorsport fans pencil it in your diary: “Sunday 3rd September, Motors TV, Live! from 3h00!”… for a marathon of motorsport action.

Sandown 500: this race is the first of two “endurance” rounds of the Australian V8 Supercars championship. It will take place one month before the ‘jewel of the crown’ - the Bathurst 1000kms – and is a vital warm-up for the teams and drivers looking to win the ‘big one’. For the fist time this season you’ll see drivers sharing cars and it’ll be interesting to see which teams have made the right selections! Motors TV will broadcast the race

Live! from 3h00 on Sunday 3rd September.

BTCC meeting in Knockhill: the BTCC is off to Scotland for round 8 of the championship. As usual, the British Touring Car Championship programme includes three races at each round and a host of exciting support races including one with Caterham cars.

BTCC, 8th round from Knockhill, Live! Sunday 3rd September from 9h00.

DTM in Zandvoort: located deep in the coastal sand dunes of the Netherlands, thirty kilometres from Amsterdam, the Zandvoort circuit is an impressive venue and on Saturday 2nd September hosts the awesome German series, the famous DTM. Witness the resumption of battles between top drivers such as Häkkinen, Alesi and Kristensen in cars from Audi and Mercedes.

Qualifying will be Live! on Saturday 2nd September from 12h30; the race is on Sunday 3rd September, from 12h45.

ALMS in Mosport: Canada and the beautiful, historic Mosport circuit, welcomes the 8th round of the American Le Mans Series. This year’s championship is fuelling a titanic duel between Audi, with its new diesel-powered R10 Le Mans winner and Porsche, with their ‘smaller’ LMP2 category RS Spyder.

ALMS Mosport, Live! on Sunday 3rd September, from 20h00.

REDISCOVER…

Sidecar World Championship: Strangely forgotten by the media, the Sidecar World Championship remains spectacular. Motors TV broadcasts two rounds every Saturday.

Saturdays 2nd, 9th, 16th and 23rd September from 18h00.

NOT TO BE MISSED…

The ‘Mondial de l’Automobile’

Occurring only once every two years, the ‘Mondial de l’Automobile’ is an unmissable event. See world premieres from spectacular car manufacturers, products showcases and new car displays – all reliably captured by two programmes from Motors TV.

Friday 29th September from 23h00.

AMA Motocross final: the American AMA motocross championship – the best in the world. Covered by Motors TV all summer, the final round, featuring both 125cc and 250cc categories, takes place in San Bardino, California, on the Glen Helen Raceway track. Not to be missed.

Monday 25th September, from 21h00.

ALMS Petit Le Mans: this 10-hour, blue-ribbon, extravaganza is one of the most prestigious sportscar events on the calendar and attracts the cream of the world’s best teams. This year, expect the stars to be the awesome new diesel-powered Audi R10s and also the spectacular Porsche RS Spyders.

Petit Le Mans will of course be broadcast Live! on Sunday 30th September from 16h30.

(NB: There will be one planned cut in the coverage, at 22h00, to see in slight delay the 30th round of the Nascar Busch Series from Kansas, then we will rejoin to Petit Le Mans and the end of the race.)

BUT ALSO…

BTCC: Round 9 of the series sees a return to the small ‘Indy’ circuit at the legendary Brands Hatch venue in Kent. Being the penultimate meeting of the season, the pressure will be mounting so expect a spectacular title chase.

Sunday 24th September from 10h00.

DTM: In what will be a first for the DTM, the series heads to Spain, and the famous Circuit de Catalunya as used by Formula 1 for the Spanish Grand Prix.

Qualifying Live! Saturday 23rd September from 12h30; race is on Sunday 24th September from 12h45.

Le Mans Series: Round five of the Le Mans Series and it is the big finale. Sadly the originally planned Monza venue got cancelled in the wake of protests from environmental activists, so the race now moves to Jarama in Spain, a former Grand Prix venue.

Three-hour highlights with the best moments of the race on Sunday 24th September from 20h00.
