Four-wheel horsepower at Chepstow

FOUR-WHEEL HORSEPOWER COMES TO CHEPSTOW RACECOURSE

ORGANISERS of the inaugural Wales Motor Show are promising a different kind of horsepower at Chepstow Racecourse at the end of next month (SATURDAY 26 AUGUST).

Visitors to the home of the Coral Welsh National have been more used to seeing star horses like See More Business or Earth Summit in years gone by - or, during summer months, superstar jockey Frankie Dettori.

Today, the Wales Motor Show outlined some of the major 'four-wheeled thoroughbred' attractions lined up for Saturday 26 August at the start of the big Bank Holiday weekend.

Among the millions of pounds worth of cars on show will be:

*602BHP 214mph Pagani Zonda;*ex-Colin McRae Subaru Impreza World Rally Car; *original 1964 Mini Cooper Limited Edition Monte Carlo Spec; *the top 15 Modified Show Cars in the UK; *750BHP Paris/Dakar Land Rover Bowler; *Ferrari F40s; *Ferrari Testarossas; *selection of AC Cobras; *Audi Quattro S1.

In total, some 500 cars will be on display, alongside trade stands and a live action arena & stage show.

Paul Parfitt, Wales Motor Show organiser, said: "There is also an opportunity to see a live rally stage and, for a few extra pounds, partake in a once-in-a- lifetime rally car ride with our professional drivers or experience the 4x4 safari course in a Camel Land Rover Discovery."

Another champion - the undefeated World Super Middleweight boxing titleholder Joe Calzaghe - will open the show.

Alongside Joe will be his model girlfriend and the face of the Wales Motor Show, Jamie Lewis.  Also present and offering their support will be Laura Anne Jones AM and Mike Phillips, the Welsh Rugby Union international scrum half.

A few lucky visitors to the show will have the opportunity to experience a ride with Welsh rally legend Gwyndaff Evans or protégé Stuart Jones.

One of the leading rallies in the UK, the Wye Dean will be making use of the Wales Motor Show's two-mile Tarmac gravel loop to launch their 2007 Rally.  This promises to be another spectacle with everything from Mark One Ford Escort Mexicos through to the latest £250,000 World Rally Cars tearing around the track.

In one day and for one admission charge, there is the Wales Motor Show, the Outdoor Car Show of the Year where visitors can watch a rally stage, 4x4 Safari and D1 Drifting.
