RACE ACADEMY TRIO ARE ONE STEP CLOSER TO MONTE CARLO

Following a heated battle during the semi-final at Silverstone, three Dunlop Race Academy contestants have been chosen to go through to the final stage in August.

The three finalists representing the North East, South East and South West are James Haslam, Barry McClure and Rob Parkman. They were selected from seven regional finalists after a series of tests at Silverstone.

After completing a fitness test, and a media panel interview, the finalists were put through a number of driving assessments with top racing drivers Calum Lockie and Ben Elliott.

Each driver received tuition and coaching from GT driver Calum, before gaining track tips as they took his Porsche 968 Clubsport round the track. The judges assessed the drivers as they moved into a race prepared Ginetta G20 for solo hot laps to apply what they had learnt. Next up was a Ginetta G20 road car where the contestants had to slalom through cones to demonstrate accuracy and precision.

The final stage of Dunlop Race Academy will take place at Silverstone on August 24th where the three contestants will go head to head on the track.

Whoever wins the Dunlop Race Academy will compete in the televised Ginetta Championship during the Dunlop Great and British Championship finals at Donington on October 22nd, where they will share the track with experienced racers.

Following this, they will sample a celebrity lifestyle including a club class flight to Monaco for a two-night stay in David Coulthard’s Columbus Hotel with helicopter transfers.
