Typical clubmans race report - Pembrey

The Formula Vee boys raced at Pembrey a few weeks ago and David Cottrell - friend of Racecargives the low down on what happens on a weekend where things seem to go from bad to worse.

David prepares his car from his home garage in Walton in the evenings - and Pembrey is a fair trotto make to find things going wrong. Still he's building up a bit of pace now and he looks forward toSilverstone undeterred - keep it up DC!

"Qualifying was an improvement on Cadwell, 32nd out of 41 so plenty of people behind me….

But…

trying a bit too hard at the end of the quail session Saturday morning spun at the Esses. No problem thinks I nothing to hit for miles around, just a big expanse of grass which is one of the reason why Pembrey is a joy to go to. NO - car comes out of nowhere from behind and nearly misses me.

Took out back end of gear-box/linkage and a good part of the exhaust system. Spent rest of Saturday fixing (easy to say, but when it’s a million degrees in the shade…!!). Lined up on the grid for the Sunday morning race, finding gears was going to be fun but was not ready for what actually happened.

Flat out to the first corner, very tight hair pin – off the accelerator, hard onto the brakes, uhhh, still going flat-out with throttle stuck wide open – bit of a moment….

Still no damage done, all 4 wheels are still where they should be so off to Silverstone.

And again thanks to Alan of AHS and his team for helping out with the repairs - www.formulavee.co.uk ."
