Jordan wins Rallycross Superfinal

at KnockhillAndrew Jordan was the star of the day in round five of the Quaife MSA British Rallycross Championship at the Knockhill circuit in Scotland on Sunday (30 July). His stunning victory in the Superfinal makes him easily the youngest driver to ever win a round of the British championship.Jordan was racing the 550bhp four-wheel drive Ford Focus built and run by the G-Tech team of former rallycross champion Will Gollop and had a great build up towards the final by taking two seconds and a win in his three heats. He then finished second to championship leader Christopher Evans in the A Final and went into the all-important Superfinal determined to take his first victory at this level."I just decided to get my head down and pressure him," said Andrew after Evans grabbed the lead of the final from the start. Sure enough, as the cars rounded the two right-handers onto the main straight, Andrew pulled off a fantastic move to go round the outside of Evans and was able to stand his ground as they powered onto the straight, although he was getting very close to the pit wall. "I just got enough momentum to go round the outside of him and I was just hoping the gap would stay there as we headed for the pit wall," said Andrew after scoring a fabulous victory. However, it nearly didn't happen as team boss Gollop knew that the car's head gasket was failing before the final. He didn't tell Jordan and sent him into the final, trusting that the gasket would survive the short, sharp race. Fortunately, the car got to the finish, but a pool of mixed oil and water underneath the car in parc ferme after the race showed that it had been close. The championship continues at Lydden in Kent for round six on 28 August, when Jordan will be pitching for another victory.Andrew Jordan is supported by John Guest, Shell, Pirtek, Quaife Engineering and Bill Gwynne Rally School.
