Cosmo Joins Gidley & McDowell For Miller 9-hour Race

Finlay Motorsports announced earlier today that Guy Cosmo will return to the seat of the No.19 Playboy/Uniden/Palms Ford-powered Daytona Prototype machine for the season-ending Discount TireSunchaser 9-hour at Miller Motorsports Park the weekend of September 2nd.

Guy Cosmo, believed to be one of the most successful and versatile youngracing talents around will share the driving duties with Memo Gidley and MichaelMcDowell for the final round of the 2006 Grand American Rolex SeriesPresented by Crown Royal Special Reserve.

Cosmo filled in for Memo Gidley earlier this season, after Gidley was injured inan incident during the morning warm up for the inaugural Crown Royal DaytonaPrototype Challenge on the streets of Long Beach. Co-driving with MichaelMcDowell at Virginia International Raceway, Laguna Seca Raceway and PhoenixInternational Raceway Cosmo helped the team score three top-10 finishes in arow. (Virginia – 4th, Laguna – 4th, Phoenix – 6th)

“I’m thrilled to be back behind the wheel of the Playboy/Uniden/Palms car,” saidGuy Cosmo. “We had a great run together earlier this year and I’m lookingforward to continuing the success at Miller. I’ve never been to the MillerMotorsports Park facility but my teammates Memo and Michael participated in atwo day test there in June so I’m sure they’ll get me up to speed quickly. I’vereally enjoyed my friendship with Michael, he’s a great guy to work with and I’mlooking forward to driving with Memo instead of filling in for him. It should be agreat weekend!”

With overall racing talent and major successes including the 2005 American LeMans Series Rookie of the Year, the 2002 Star Mazda North AmericanChampionship and the 1997 Formula Ford 1600 Southeast DivisionChampionship Cosmo was an easy choice for the 9-hour event at Miller.

“It’s a great opportunity to bring Guy back,” said Steve Cameron, TeamPresident. “He did an exceptional job filling in for Memo and he’s just a great fitwith our team. I think it should be a strong driver line-up and a good opportunityfor us to finish out the season on top.”

The Finlay Motorsports team will next compete at Watkins Glen InternationalRaceway on August 11th where they will share the weekend with the NACARBusch and Nextel Cup Series.
