 Got the Baja bug?

The Baja Aragon traverses Spain, taking the competitors in the second round of the FIA International Cup for Cross Country Bajas over 862 Km of secret timed tests over four days. Dakar regular Marc Coma will be debuting in the car category, at the wheel of a Mitsubishi Pajero Evo, the car with an unrivalled success record on the Dakar and Cross Country events in recent years.

A British epic

The fifth round of the British GT Championship heads for Norfolk and the ultra-fast Snetterton circuit. The cars will top 160mph as they head down the circuit’s two long straights before heavy braking, and lots of overtaking, at the end of the famous Revett straight. A pair of Ascari KZ1Rs will debut here and go up against the Aston Martin DB9Rs and the Lotus Sport Exiges, making for an epic on-track battle. Motors TV has highlights of the two 60-minute races.

Getting kart’d off

The fifth round of the made-for-TV Motors TV Ultimate Karting Challenge takes place, as usual, at the Three Sisters kart track near Wigan. The series is split into four categories and competition in each has been fierce so far, with the leaders gaining an advantage of no more than five points in all but one of the classes. The championship is about to hit its mid-point and the competition is too close to make predictions about who will walk away with the ultimate honour in any of the categories.

A Matt finish

The American AMA Superbike Championship hits the Mid-Ohio circuit for its eighth meeting of the year this week. This season is shaping up to be a titanic battle between reigning champion Matt Mladin and 2005 runner-up Ben Spies, who currently heads Mladin by just 21 points after 11 races. Neither rider has finished off the podium so far this year and of those 11 races, there were only two where Mladin and Spies didn’t share first and second. So expect close competition as Motors TV shows highlights of both of the weekend’s races.

Worlds apart

Crossing the Atlantic, there’s more Superbike action on Motors this week, with highlights of the World Superbike Championship from Brands Hatch in the UK. Australian Troy Bayliss has built an impressive near-100 point lead by the mid-point of the season but his rivals will be looking to close the gap as soon as possible. The riders will tackle the full Grand Prix circuit at Brands Hatch, with its pair of long straights and huge crowds are always rewarded with exceptional racing. Motors TV has highlights of the Superbike and SuperSport races, followed by the Superbike TV Magazine program, going behind the scenes.

NASCAR’s long and winding road

The NASCAR Busch Series heads for the fabled Watkins Glen circuit in New York state this week, the scene of the American Grand Prix in years gone by. Watkins Glen is a road course, so the usual oval set-up for the cars will change, to allow to direction changes left and right, as well as different types of corner. Kevin Harvick leads the championship at the mid-point but behind him is a tight four-way battle which is set to continue as the drivers reach Watkins Glen. Motors TV will be showing the full race live, for all the action.

No fear of commitment

The British Touring Car Championship also heads for Norfolk this week, for the seventh of the ten-round series. Snetterton offers plenty of action, thanks to a pair of long straights, one followed by a tight chicane and high speed, full commitment corners. Once again, Motors TV will be showing all three BTCC races live, the only channel to do so, as well as the support races. This weekend, the T-Car series joins the BTCC, while race day will also feature a historic Grand Touring car race.
