Westbrook takes another Supercup podium
Richard Westbrook scored yet another podium finish in the Porsche Michelin Supercup at the Budapest circuit during the Hungarian Grand Prix meeting at the weekend. In very wet conditions, Westbrook maintained his amazing record of finishing on the podium in every one of the eleven races to date this season. The track conditions were so bad that the race started behind the safety car and ran for 13 laps before finishing at 30 minutes.Although he is already confirmed as 2006 Porsche Michelin Supercup champion, Westbrook headed for Hungary determined to maintain his remarkable run of results with his Racing Team Morelatto Porsche 911GT3 Cup car. However, the soaking conditions made life very difficult for the drivers with poor visibility. "You just couldn't see anything," reported Richard. "That wasn't my best race, but I'm very happy to get another podium. That's 11 podiums now, which is unbelievable!"In the race Patrick Huisman had the benefit of running at the head of the pack and so had a clear view. However, Westbrook dropped to third behind Christian Menzel and spent the rest of the race running in Menzel's spray. "I nearly got Christian back, but every time I got close to him I couldn't see anything. Patrick was certainly in the best place!"Now, Westbrook will prepare for the final race of the season at Monza (Italy) in early September when he his determined to wrap up his championship season with another victory.
