Hindhaugh to join Heritage GT grid
TV and radio commentator John Hindhaugh will swap his microphone for a steering wheel when he contests two races in the Heritage GT Car Challenge at the British Touring Car Championship meeting at Snetterton (12/13 August).Hindhaugh will partner Mike Youles in a 3-litre Ford Capri with backing from ODL and will race the Group 1 specification car in class D of the Heritage GT series."The last time Mike raced a Capri was in the Wilhire 24 Hours at Snetterton in the mid 80s," reckons Hindhaugh. "Sadly the car didn't finish, although Mike wasn't at the wheel at its final demise!"Hindhaugh, best known as the anchorman for Radio Le Mans, has raced previously but claims that his Capri experience is limited. "The last time I drove a Capri was when I owned a 2.0 S in Stratos Silver while I was still living in the North-East," he says. "I attended my first British GP with that car in 1990. However the most abiding memory of that car is having two accidents in it in the space of about 10 days; both involved not being able get the damn thing stopped. Mike has assured me that the race car has four-pot calipers and vented discs!"
