The ABD today revealed that police advice was strongly against the new methodsof speed limit setting denounced last week by the Safe Speed campaign as'flawed and deadly'.

Safe Speed believes that the change to 'mean speed' method is just one deadlymistake amongst a range of deadly mistakes.

Paul Smith, founder of the Safe Speed road safety campaign(www.safespeed.org.uk) said: "I'm delighted that the Police came back with acommon sense consensus, and shocked and appalled that Department for Transportignored them. Department for Transport is not fit for purpose and must changedramatically and change soon.
