F1 STOCK CAR THUNDER OPENS NEW WIMBLEDON SEASON
Spedeworth South (www.spedeworth.net) gets the new season of Stock Car racing at Wimbledon Stadium off to an exciting start with a visit from the ground-shaking F1 Stock Cars, supported by the Historic Stock Cars and Ministox on Sunday August 27th at 5pm.
The American V8 powered BRISCA Formula 1 Stock Cars are regarded by many as the ultimate oval racing formula and anyone who has seen and heard these mighty machines in action would probably agree with that sentiment as the huge V8 engines are opened up and the heavy front bumpers are put to very good use around the Plough Lane circuit.
Fans with long memories will be delighted with the appearance of the Historic Spedeworth F2 Stock Cars in action against the BRISC Heritage F2 machines. The vintage racing machines will bring back memories of the glory days of stock car racing in Great Britain and show the younger fans who the pioneers of the sport put the pedal to the metal back in the 1950s and ‘60s.
As the drivers and cars representing the sport’s past leave the track, drivers and cars representing the future will take to it in the Ministox formula. The armoured Minis are piloted by young (11-16 year old) drivers who are learning the ropes in oval racing while giving the spectators the chance to see the stars of tomorrow powering around the circuit.
With three highly entertaining formulas on the card, plus the chance to see racing from the past, present and future, the action is going to be fast and furious at Wimbledon Stadium, Britain’s finest stock car racing circuit.
