It has become something of a tradition for Motors TV: For the past five years, at the beginning of October, the biggest motor race in Australia has been a welcome guest on Motors TV. And this year is no exception.
For any Australian, Bathurst 1000 is the equivalent of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France or the American Indy 500: a legendary race which has now become part of the motoring, and sporting, culture of the entire nation.
For more than forty years, the best drivers in the world have tried to master the challenging circuit on side of Mount Panorama, located three hours West of Sydney. At 6.2km in length, the circuit features a pair of incredibly long straights on the mountainside, one uphill and the other, down; a layout unique to Bathurst.
This legendary event is also the 9th round of the V8 Supercars championship, which is exclusively broadcast by Motors TV in Europe. For this race, teams compete with two drivers per car and names such as BTCC champion John Cleland, Jason Plato and Frenchman Yvan Muller have all competed at Bathurst in recent years.
Motors TV’s coverage will begin at 22.00 on Saturday 7th October, for ten hours of non-stop LIVE action. On the menu: warm-up, the supporting Carrera Porsche race, traditional race presentations and then Bathurst 1000 non-stop, with the start planned for 1am UK time.
Those motorsport fans looking for a ‘made in Australia’ all-nighter will have the unique opportunity to witness this event and watch stunning action from down under. Fans who need their sleep won’t miss out though, as they will be able to enjoy numerous re-broadcasts of the race, following the event.
