Former world champion rally driver Richard Burns, who died aged just 34, has left more than £1.7 million in his will which has just been published.
Burns died on November 25 2005 after a long illness in which he was treated for a brain tumour.
He had become the youngest winner of the British rally championship in 1993, and became the first Englishman to win the World Championship in 2001. he also won ten world championship rallies.
But he suffered a blackout as he drove his road car to take part in the Wales Rally GB in 2003, and a rare brain tumour was diagnosed. He underwent chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and finally surgery but his condition deteriorated and he died.
After his affairs were settled, Burns left a total of £1,419,228 on trust for his family.
And he left instructions that part of his estate should go to any registered charity selected by his executors.
