Week 38, 16 - 24 September 2006
Super twins
Round seven of the 2006 Super GT series heads for Twin Ring Motegi, home of motorsport in Japan. Daisuke Ito and the UK’s Ralph Firman lead the championship and also recently topped the times at the official test at the circuit, so must be favourites for a race weekend victory. But, with three rounds to go, it certainly isn’t over yet and they will need every trick in the book to secure the 2006 crown. Motors TV has highlights of the 300Km race.

Magnificent Seven
As the AMA Motocross Championship heads for the eleventh round, at Steel City, it already has this year’s champion – Ricky Carmichael. Carmichael has taken no less than eight wins this season and it marks his seventh AMA Motocross title and his 15th national title overall. All that and he’s only 26. He’s said that 2006 will be his last full-time season but many fans hope to see him in action again. With two rounds remaining, it’s still open for second though, with just eight points separating the three main contenders. Motors tv has highlights of both the Motocross (250cc) and Lites (125cc) classes.

The reign in Spain…
The 2006 DTM series makes the last of its visits to a new circuit for round eight, when the teams head for the Circuit de Catalunya, the home of the Spanish Grand Prix. The circuit, located just outside Barcelona in the heart of the Catalan hills, is noted for a lack of overtaking opportunities and so qualifying is all-important. Bernd Schneider has made the running so far this season but both Tom Kristensen and Bruno Spengler, with two back-to-back race wins, are still very much in the running. Motors TV will be showing the crucial qualifying sessions live on Saturday, along with the full race action, also live, on Sunday.

The white banking of Dover
The NASCAR Busch series returns to Dover this week for the 29th round of the season. The one-mile oval track is surrounded by spectator seating and the surface is concrete, giving its white appearance. There have been no less than 14 different race winners so far this season but it’s Kevin Harvick who heads the table, thanks to an outstanding 5 wins and 15 top five finishes, bringing his earnings close to the magic $1M. Motors TV has the entire race live, as it happens.

Down the (Brands) Hatch
The penultimate round of this year’s British Touring Car Championship returns to the scene of the opening round, Brands Hatch in Kent. It’s been a three way battle for honours this year, with reigning champion Matt Neal looking strong. But Colin Turkington is close behind, as is SEAT’s Jason Plato. Plato and Neal have experienced exceptionally close, sometimes too close, racing this year and Brands is sure to be no exception. Motors TV has the action live, with the second of the three BTCC races delayed live, following the DTM coverage.
