Rhodes to join OBrien in Heritage GT
John Rhodes will contest the final two weekends in the Heritage GT Car Challenge at Brands Hatch, having accepted an invitation to race with Conor O'Brien in a Mini Cooper S.Rhodes will partner O'Brien in the two remaining Brands Hatch events; on 23/24 September during the BTCC meeting and on 21/22 October during the Formula Ford Festival."John will test the car at Oulton on Friday," says O'Brien, who will be racing his Aston Martin DB4 at Oulton Park on Saturday (16 September). "For me, it is a real treat to have the master in my car," adds O'Brien. Through the 1960s, Rhodes who was one of Britain's top Mini racers, winning four consecutive 1300cc class titles in the British Touring Car Championship between 1965 and 1968. He also won the 1968 European Touring Car crown.He stopped racing regularly in the early 1970s, but has been a star performer at Goodwood since the creation of the Revival Meeting.
