Shane Lynch will take time out of his TV schedule to race in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Brands Hatch next weekend (23/24 September).Lynch will race the Vertu-backed VIP car in rounds 17 and 18 of the championship and is relishing the chance to sample the 997-model 911GT3 Cup car. So far, his only experience of racing a Porsche was when he tackled the Silverstone round of the Porsche Supercup in a VIP car."I'm looking forward to it a lot," says Lynch, a recent star of the 'Love Island' TV series. "Apart from the 24-hour race at Silverstone last week, I've not been out in a powerful race car for some time, so this will be a little bit different!"The Irish racer, formerly part of Boyzone, admits to having a life-long love of Porsches. "The Porsche is one of my favourite cars, right from when I was a kid. I always wanted a Porsche 911 and I just love them."Lynch will fit the Brands weekend in around his TV schedule. "I'm doing a lot of TV at the moment, but racing is my passion and my love. I'd be racing all the time if I could!" The chance to race within the BTCC meeting comes at a very relevant time for Lynch as he weighs up his options for racing in 2007. "I'm looking to do a full championship in 2007, so getting the invitation to race the Porsche has tied up very nicely."
