The white banking of Dover

The NASCAR Busch series returns to Dover this week for the 29th round of the season. The one-mile oval track is surrounded by spectator seating and the surface is concrete, giving its white appearance. There have been no less than 14 different race winners so far this season but it’s Kevin Harvick who heads the table, thanks to an outstanding 5 wins and 15 top five finishes, bringing his earnings close to the magic $1M. Motors TV has the entire race live, as it happens.

Down the (Brands) Hatch

The penultimate round of this year’s British Touring Car Championship returns to the scene of the opening round, Brands Hatch in Kent. It’s been a three way battle for honours this year, with reigning champion Matt Neal looking strong. But Colin Turkington is close behind, as is SEAT’s Jason Plato. Plato and Neal have experienced exceptionally close, sometimes too close, racing this year and Brands is sure to be no exception. Motors TV has the action live, with the second of the three BTCC races delayed, following the live DTM coverage.

The reign in Spain…

The 2006 DTM series makes the last of its visits to a new circuit for round eight, when the teams head for the Circuit de Catalunya, the home of the Spanish Grand Prix. The circuit, located just outside Barcelona in the heart of the Catalan hills, is noted for a lack of overtaking opportunities and so qualifying is all-important. Bernd Schneider has made the running so far this season but both Tom Kristensen and Bruno Spengler, the latter with two back-to-back race wins, are still very much in the running. Motors TV will be showing the crucial qualifying sessions live on Saturday, along with the full race action, also live, on Sunday.

… stays mainly on the plain

There’s more circuit action from Spain this week, for the final round of the Le Mans Series, taking place at the Jarama circuit. It’s been a strong season for Pescarolo but the Swiss Spirit team has also had a promising debut season, finishing on the podium at Spa after qualifying on pole for the race. In fact, it’s been a great season throughout all four classes and Jarama will reverberate to the sound of the Le Mans racers for the last time in 2006 before they pack up and start to look ahead to 2007. Motors TV has highlights of the last round from Spain.

Hit the road, track…

The Champ Car World Series takes to the Road America circuit for its 12th round. Championship leader Sebastien Bourdais was fastest at the recent official test and therefore has to be favourite for the race weekend. However, AJ Allmendinger and Justin Wilson will be looking to keep him off the top step of the podium, as they are both still in with a chance of the title, although it will be a tough fight. Motors TV has highlights of the 12th round at the picturesque Elkhart Lake circuit.

A Petite little thing…

One of the most evocative names comes to the American Le Mans Series this week, as the racers take part in the Petit Le Mans race, round nine of the series. The event takes place on the Road Atlanta circuit in Georgia and is one that every team wants to win; class winners get an automatic entry to the following year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans. The 10-hour/1000 mile race is the cornerstone of the series and draws entries from all over the world. Motors TV will be showing the race action live, with a 2.5 hour break for live NASCAR action (below).

No Place like home

Round 30 of the 2006 NASCAR Busch series heads for Kansas and its spiritual home. The 1.5-mile tri-oval is surrounded, not this time by spectator seating by motorhome parking, with fans bringing the party with them. Motors TV will be showing delayed, as-live coverage of the race in a break during the Petit Le Mans live coverage.
