Pickford to complete Carrera Cup season
James Pickford will complete the Porsche Carrera Cup GB season at Silverstone next month with IN2RACING after rejoining the team at Brands Hatch over the weekend (23/24 September). Running the team’s fourth car with support from Totalamber Core Team, Pickford will have contested the final three weekend of the Carrera Cup season when he races at Silverstone on 14/15 October.“I had unfinished business after Knockhill,” reckoned Pickford, after finishing second in his debut Carrera Cup race in Scotland at the stat of September. “We’re having a big effort to get on the podium at Silverstone and I went well there last year in touring cars,” he said.Pickford remains determined to secure a BTCC return in 2007, and is using the final six Carrera Cup races of the season to re-establish himself. “The team has given me an opportunity and it’s about getting back out in a car. IN2RACING is a great team with lots of potential.”Unfortunately, a driveshaft broke on the way to the grid for the opening race, but Pickford starred in the second race by charging from the back of the grid to finish sixth overall, right on the tail of the fourth-place battle between Richard Williams and Michael Caine.
