UK's Oldest Single Make Race Series Penultimate Round at Rockingham. Rounds 10 & 11 of the Dunlop Mini S7en and Mini Miglia Challenge's will take place at Rockingham race circuit near Corby on Sunday 8th October, with both championships wide open. Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the first Mini Se7en race in 1966 the Mini 7 Racing Club has been providing action-packed, door-to-door racing for in five decades and the racing championships for the world's favourite car of the 20th Century, the classic Mini, still attracts full grids today. The 2006 championship for the1000cc powered Mini Se7ens is currently being headed by Buckinghamshire?s Andrew Deviny who is just eight points ahead of reigning champion Paul Thompson on 173 points and Geoff Letts from East Sussex, who is 1 point further behind in 3rd. At the last round at Croft in September Andrw Deviny maintained his impressive run of form to record another victory at Croft, a circuit he won at on the championships last visit in 2003. Paul Thompson and Max Hunter diced throughout the race for the other podium positions, with Hunter gaining the upper hand by the chequered flag. In the larger engined (1300cc) Mini Miglia Challenge, the race for the title is also finely balanced with 1997 Champion Bill Sollis from Sevenoaks in Kent looking to add another crown to his tally this season. However he has Londoner James Hall snapping at his heels, just 6 points adrift after the last round at Brands Hatch in July. Behind the leading pair Kelly Rogers is not giving up his Miglia title hopes just yet and rates Rockingham as one of his favourite tracks in the UK. Last month at Croft James Hall took his maiden Miglia victory. The 2004 Mini Se7en Champion finished behind Bill Sollis but the current championship leader was penalised for twice straight lining the chicane and was handed a half second penalty which reversed the top two placing in Hall's favour.
