The Time Attack series finally roared into Europe in 2006 after being a huge success in Japan and America.
This circuit based event features the best tuned cars in Europe competing head to head over single timed lap. The series took place over 5 rounds; Rockingham, Silverstone (twice), Knockhill and the grand final at Donnington Park.
With a relatively open rulebook the cars competing were some of the most extreme and professionally finished examples to be found anywhere in the world. There was a huge diversity in the competitors ranged from 700bhp+ Nissan Skylines to an 840bhp Short Wheel based Mitsubishi Evo. The Litchfield Imports and Powerstation teams’ joint entry was version of their Subaru Impreza Type-25.
Based on the Japanese only, motor sport derived Spec C, the car was fitted with a FIA approved roll cage, race 3-way adjustable AST suspension and a Cosworth built EJ25 short block with Cosworth CNC Ported Big Valve heads and V2 camshafts. The car was expertly driven all year by rising GT star Phil Keen.
The tense final battle took place in front of packed stands on Donnington Park’s 1.9mile National circuit. Despite running less power than the main Mitsubishi rivals the Subaru’s superior chassis showed through with a time of 1:17:025 beating the nearest rival by 1.217secs and taking the Championship victory.
The Subaru’s impressive lap time also managed to beat all of the open wheel competitors (by over 0.8sec). The team looks forward to more motor sport success in 2007
