Myerscough Motorsports Success

The Myerscough College Rally team headed to sunny New Brighton early on Saturday morning keen for a good result. Using the College prepared MK2 Ford Escort, Burtie Morton and Craig Parry where the pilots for the day.

The team had a slight drama for the first stage caused by the car developing a misfire and an oil leak from the gearbox which was enough to keep the team busy in the first service.

The second stage was much better with Burtie and Craig enjoying themselves but commenting on the number of other competitors off on only the second stage of the day. Stages 3 and 4 went without fault, which meant there was little for the team to do during the longest service of the day in preparation for the parade lap in honour of Ritchie Pearle, a former clerk.

The afternoon’s stages (ss5 to ss10) went well with no problems, leaving the team with only spanner checks to worry about. The team ended a good event by finishing 22nd overall and 9th in class, which considering the level of competition on the event was a great achievement.

To add to a good result, the Myerscough team also won the 1st novice award giving the team some well deserved silverware. Congratulations to everybody involved! Hopefully the team will be able to repeat or better their result next weekend when they descend on the Three Sisters circuit in Wigan for the final round of this season.
