Parker Racing secures Carrera Cup prize
Team Parker Racing has retained the team's title within the Porsche Carrera Cup GB, following a fine campaign with the SAS International backed cars of Damien Faulkner and Jason Templeman. The team, headed by Stuart Parker, will shortly pick up a cheque for £7000, while Motorbase Performance and Team IRWIN with Red Line Racing finished second and third in the final points following the concluding race of the season at Silverstone (Sunday 15 October). The team had already guided Faulkner to the drivers' title for the second time. "We set out with one objective and that was to win both titles," said Parker. "We might not have done it in the most spectacular way, but we've achieved our goals."Both Faulkner and Templeman contributed greatly to retaining the teams' championship. "Jason's had more than his share of bad luck and Damien was just Mr. Consistent. In two years, he's done 40 races with us and finished on the podium 38 times," said Parker. "Without the backing of SAS International, none of this would have been possible. All the people in the team have been terrific."Now, Parker is already planning a return to the Carrera Cup GB in 2007, but recognises that his team my have a different driver line-up. "I'd be amazed if we weren't back to defend our title. In 2003 we made a commitment to do the Carrera Cup and we intend to be back again next year. I hope that Damien gets the chance to move on to bigger and better things. He's got nothing left to prove. I hope to bring some new fresh talent into the team."
