& Photographer of the Year 2006
There are just six weeks to go before the entry deadline for this year’s fifth Renault MSA Young Motor Sport Journalist and Photographer of the Year awards. Two winners will each walk away with a cheque for £1,000.
Established by UK motor sport’s governing body, the Motor Sports Association, in 2002 with support from Renault UK Limited, these two awards are designed to recognise and encourage the new generation of media working in UK racing and rallying. The winners not only receive cheques for £1,000, but also trophies and recognition within UK motor sport as talents of the future.
A panel of recognised experts from the sport and the media will consider the applications. The eventual winners will receive their awards at the MSA’s star-studded ‘Night of Champions’ ceremony. Last year’s prizes were presented by Sir Jackie Stewart, the three times Formula One world champion.
Candidates must have been aged 25 or under on the 1 January 2006 and be able to demonstrate published work involving UK motor sport. They can come from local, regional, specialist or electronic media and are required to submit a minimum of three published articles or photographs from the UK media this year.
Entries must be submitted by 1 December 2006.
Application forms are available be emailing msapressoffice@fingal.co.uk
Colin Hilton, Chief Executive of the MSA, says: "This is a very prestigious prize to win for any young journalist or photographer aiming to further their careers in motor sport and already we have received many entry applications both from the traditional specialist motor sport media and regional publications from around the UK covering all manner of four-wheeled disciplines.
"Last year our panel took a good five hours to choose the two winners such was the high quality of the entries from both fields. Nurturing young talent is of huge importance to both the MSA and Renault UK and we would not want anyone to miss out on the opportunity to win what are fabulous prizes."
