Lone star wars

The 2006 NASCAR Busch series heads for Texas this weekend, to the Texas Motor Speedway. The competition this year has been fierce but Kevin Harvick did enough, with seven race wins, to clinch the title with four races to go. So now, with the pressure off, expect some classic nose-to-tail racing around the 1.5-mile quad oval. Motors TV will be showing the complete race live, from the Lone Star state.

A classic year

This year’s Le Mans Series was a demonstration of excellence on the part of the Pescarolo team, which finished second at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It dominated the entire season, winning all five races which made up the championship. However, despite its superiority, it was a classic season, with four teams nipping at Pescarolo’s heels throughout the year, including the brand new Swiss Spirit team, as well as Courage Competition and a host of names from the greatest motor race in the world. Motors TV is showing a two-part season review, back-to-back, for all the action as the championship unfolded over                                                the year.

‘Crossing the continent

The American AMA Motocross championship is one of the world’s premier series for off-road motorcycling and for good reason – it attracts the best riders in the USA, widely regarded as the home of the sport. In the Motocross category (250cc 2-stroke/450cc 4-stroke), Ricky Carmichael took his fifth championship with an outstanding 19 race wins. In the Motocross Lites (125cc 2-stroke/250cc 4-Stroke) class, 18 year-old Ryan Villopoto took ten race wins on his way to the title. Motors TV has a full season review of each of the two classes on two consecutive nights, for all the thrills and spills from this year’s                                                championships.

Hello SuperMoto

Like its sister series, The AMA SuperMoto is one of the most hotly-contested SuperMoto championships in the world. SuperMoto sees Motocross-style bikes racing on circuits made up of gravel and tarmac and the best way round the corners is by sliding the bike, producing amazing racing and an incredible spectacle for the TV cameras. The big news at the start of this year’s season was the return of Doug Henry after a huge crash part-way through last year, when he looked on course                                                   for the championship. Motors TV has highlights of the first round from Elkhart Lake.

From the flames…

The 2006 NASCAR Busch series visits the Phoenix International Raceway in Arizona for its penultimate race this weekend. The raceway sits in the foothills of the Estralla Mountains and is one of the most prolific venues for NASCAR Racing. Its bent-oval design is a favourite with drivers and fans alike and once again, Motors TV will have the full race action live, as it happens in the desert.

Island life

The Australian V8 Supercars make the relatively short hop across the water this week to Tasmania and the Symmons Plain circuit near Launceston. It’s a fairly straightforward circuit but features two very long straights, one with a tight hairpin at the end and the other with a tight left-hander. So expect plenty of action as the drivers haul these enormous cars up from high speeds and try to pick up places. Motors TV will be showing all the competition, with race one on Saturday and races two and three on Sunday.
