UK Stars Head for World Championship

Eight of the top UK Legends drivers are heading for the United States to contest this year’s World Championship at Sears Point on 10th and 11th November.  The UK entry is headed by 2006 UK Legends Cars champion Chris Grieve with runners up Dave Newsham and Jamie Clarke also making the trip. “I think this year’s UK entry is the strongest line up we’ve ever sent to the World Finals,” says Legends boss Phil Cooper.  “All of our top seven drivers in the championship are making the trip – the cars were shipped in September and everyone is looking forward to mixing it with the best drivers in the world once again.”The annual World Championship pitches drivers from all the American States that host Legends racing along with drivers from Canada, Scandinavia and Europe. This year also sees the strongest ever contingent from mainland Europe with representatives from the Spanish championship joining those from Belgium and France.As well as the individual World Titles the Americans will compete against the European contingent in the third running of the “Transatlantic Trophy” which is currently held by the hosts.  In addition to Grieve, Newsham and Clarke the other UK drivers making the trip are Lawrence Davey, Peter Morton, Derek Pierce, Simon Belcher and Jim Clarke.
