Ice Racing is back!

Whilst most racing series are concluding their seasons at this time of year, there is traditionally one discipline that is just getting started:  the Andros Ice Racing Trophy. The spectacular ice-racing series will once again head back to a variety of French ski resorts to race on ice and snow covered tracks, guaranteed to produce action from first-to-last amidst clouds of snow. The forthcoming 2006-2007 championship is set to be one of the most exciting ever with ex-Formula 1 stars, such as four-time World Champion Alain Prost and 1996 Monaco Grand Prix winner Olivier Panis, competing. Unmissable!

FINAL SHOWS…

All good things must come to an end and as the racing season draws to a close, the most popular shows on Motors TV are no exception. To celebrate a season of fantastic racing in 2006, our traditional ‘end-of-season reviews’ will highlight all of the year’s finest moments:

DTM : the fight between Audi and Mercedes was spectacular and ultimately won by Mercedes. This clash of German titans had extra sparkle this year as championship stalwarts such as double Formula 1 world champion Mika Häkkinen, seven time Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen and ex-Ferrari F1 star Jean Alesi, gave a new generation of young superstars a hard run for their money … Flashback on a classic season.

Tuesday 5th December from 20:00.

ALMS : the 2006 American Le Mans Series will be remembered for one thing: the Audi R10. The first diesel-powered Le Mans car to win a race - the Audi not only won, but dominated. Fortunately the action did not stop there: 2006 also witnessed the return of Porsche and their awesome success with the RS Spyder LMP2; the battle between Corvette and Aston Martin in the GT1 class; and an epic-dual between Ferrari and Porsche in the GT2 class.

Saturday 2nd December from 20:00.

V8 Supercars : just the final race of the year to screen before the 2006 season review. Aussies creatively call this race the ‘Grand Finale’ and it takes place at the superb venue of Philip Island. Following that, viewers will then enjoy the highlights of a season which saw fantastic success of Craig Lowndes and his Triple Eight team, with Gath Tander and Jason Bright hot on his tails.

Philip Island : Sunday 10th December from 19:00.

Season review : Saturday 30th December from 20:00.

Nascar Busch : domination by one competitor has not been seen for years in this championship but the 2006 Busch series has indeed been utterly dominated by Kevin Harvick, who sealed his title well before the last race. Witness this unique achievement with the season review of an always action-packed Nascar Busch series.

Saturday 23rd December from 20:00.

LET’S NOT FORGET…

Trans-Africa Classic

‘Classic car’ events have been a part of motor racing for many years... although of particular note is the Trans-Africa Classic. This event is very special as it involves Africa and rally cars! Patrick Zaniroli, ex-Director of the Dakar rally, has launched this new adventure to celebrate the pioneers of such great races. Although a regularity event (where the aim is not necessarily for outright speed, but rather to finish as closely as possible to a pre-nominated time), the rally still poses an exceptional challenge for teams and drivers.

Saturday 2nd December from 19:00.

Best of Crash

2006 has seen some spectacular ‘shunts’ and Motors TV has them all gathered together in one show that guarantees to entertain! Naturally excluding those in which any harm came to drivers or crews, you can feel free to sit back and gasp in horror or laugh out loud at the season’s most impressive crashes. This show is not to be missed and should definitely be recorded!

Saturday 30th December from 17:00.
