From the flames…
The 2006 NASCAR Busch series visits the Phoenix International Raceway in Arizona for its penultimate race this weekend. The raceway sits in the foothills of the Estralla Mountains and is one of the most prolific venues for NASCAR racing. Its bent-oval design is a favourite with drivers and fans alike and once again, Motors TV will have the full race action live, as it happens in the desert.

Island life
The Australian V8 Supercars make the relatively short hop across the water this week to Tasmania and the Symmons Plain circuit near Laun ceston. It’s a fairly straightforward circuit but features two very long straights, one with a tight hairpin at the end and the other with a tight left-hander. So expect plenty of action as the drivers haul these enormous cars up from high speeds and try to pick up places. Motors TV will be showing all the competition, with race one on Saturday and races two and three on Sunday.

Great AND British…
This year’s Dunlop Great & British series has proved a huge success. The nine-round championship was based around a core of three racing series; Minis, Ginettas and Radicals with guest championships running alongside at each weekend. The final round of the series took place at Donington Park in Leicestershire and Motors TV has highlights of each of the four key races which made up the day; two Mini classes, the Ginettas and the Radicals.

Side by side
The FIM World Sidecar series is the World’s premier sidecar racing championship and the eight-round series is based in Europe, visiting Croatia, Sweden, Holland, Germany and the UK, to name but a few. It provides not only incredible spectacle but also exceptional racing action, with riders ensconced in carbonfibre bodywork but passengers swapping from side to side on the outfit to balance the cornering forces. The reigning champions, brother-team Tim and Tristan Reeves returned in 2006 and aimed to make it two in a row. Motors TV is showing highlights of the full season, charting their and their competition’s progress throughout the year.

A Mexican wave goodbye
The final round of this year’s Champ Car World Series takes place in Mexico City, a venue renowned for its passionate motorsport fans. Heading for the final round, Frenchman Sebastien Bourdais had already sewn up this season’s title so the pressure will be off, allowing him to go out and try to add yet another race win to his already impressive tally. There was a double celebration for France at the previous round, as fellow countryman Nelson Filippe became the youngest race winner in the history of the sport. So expect plenty of action as all the drivers will be trying to secure the winter’s bragging rights. Motors TV has highlights of the final round.

Never a cross word…
The final round of the 2006 British RallyCross Championship saw rising star Andrew Jordan take his second outright win of the season in the Supercar category. Jordan was already the youngest driver to take a Supercar category win, at just 16 and at Croft, he showed more of the quality which gained him the accolade. He didn’t have it his own way though, with both Pat Doran and Dermot Carnegie pushing him hard.

Super Heroes
The 2006 World Superbike season was one to remember, with no less than eight riders winning races and all five global manufacturers also taking at least one victory. But it was Australian Troy Bayliss who stood head and shoulders above the other riders, with a round dozen race wins on his way to clinching the championship. However, behind him, the series went down to the wire at the final round at Magny Cours in France, with the remaining positions still to be decided. Motors TV reviews the full WSBK season over the course of a pair of two-hour specials.
