24-Hour Kart Race

AT AUTOSPORT INTERNATIONAL

Le Mans fever has gripped Autosport International 2007, 11-14 January at the NEC in Birmingham. Not only will the world’s biggest motorsport show host the most significant display of Le Mans cars ever assembled, but a special celebratory 24-Hour Kart Race will also take place on Thursday 11 January.

Operators of the indoor kart circuit, Oxford Karting Limited and Motorsport World, are offering the exclusive opportunity for just 15 teams to enter this unique event, the first 24-hour kart race ever held at Autosport International. The cost of entry per team is £1,250, which must consist of a minimum of eight and a maximum of 16 drivers.

The lights will go green on the 24-Hour Kart Race at 11am on Thursday morning, the exclusive press day at the show, and the winning team will be crowned at 11am on Friday. The top prize up for grabs is an entry in to the 24-hour Le Mans Kart Race, which is held at the end of June 2007, valued at over £3,000. (Equipment to contest this race can be provided if required, although transport and accommodation is not included.)

Nolan O’Connor, Group Marketing Manager for show organisers Haymarket Exhibitions, commented: “After the success of last year’s Red Bull Track Attack launch with Vitantonio Liuzzi and the CLIC Sargent celebrity kart race, we wanted to continue to raise the profile of karting at Autosport International. Oxford Karting and Motorsport World have taken inspiration from the show’s main Le Mans feature and come up with the ultimate karting challenge, the show’s first 24-Hour Kart Race.”

It is clear that the demand for a seat in the 24-Hour Kart Race at Autosport International will exceed availability, as four teams have already secured their places on the starting grid, including Vodafone and Oxford Brookes University. The 24-Hour Kart Race will be heavily promoted through Oxford Karting, Rye House and NKA member circuits.
