Damax take GT3 win at Catalunya
European GT3 contenders Damax came up trumps at the final International GT Open race at Catalyunya last weekend, winning the GTS (GT3) class with their Ascari KZ1R driven by Jonny Lang and Martin Rich. The Ascari qualified 2nd in class and was p22 on the grid. Lang started the race and took the class lead early on in the 2 hour, 2 driver change race taking the chequered flag over 1 minute ahead of the 2nd place Viper of Team Ruffier. Martin Rich drove an excellent middle stint and ran the Ascari at a competitive pace for over an hour. The Ascari had to run to the full FIA regs including carrying the usual 100kg of 'performance' ballast and adjusted ride heights.Team Owner Robin Ward said "this weekend has again proved we have resolved the reliability problems the Ascari was suffering from during the early part of the year and has given the team a big boost. We are looking forward to 2007 and are confident of some more great results to come. With thanks to Jonny, Martin and the team for a great weekend."
