Test at Jerez with Racing Engineering

Formula 3 Selection Jerez On the 16th and 17th of November, Racing Engineering will hold a two day test at the Jerez circuit. Eight drivers were chosen to participate: Siso Cunill (ESP), Chris Holmes (UK), Franck Mailleux (FRA), Bruno Mendez (ESP), Nil Montserrat (ESP), Arturo Llobell (ESP),  Stefanos  Kamitsakis  (GRE)  and  Juan  Manuel  Polar  (PE).  Four  Spaniards,  one French, one Peruvian, one Greek and one British driver are to drive the team’s Dallara F306 cars in order to convince Racing Engineering’s selection committee and become part of it’s 2007 Formula 3 line-up. On  the  first  day  Siso  Cunill,  Chris  Holmes,  Franck  Mailleux  and  Juan  Manuel Polar  will  be  driving  the  Racing  Engineering  cars.  Siso  Cunill,  at  only  16  years  old, started his career in single seater racing in 2006 and participated in Formula Renault races along with the last three events of the Spanish Formula 3 Cup. Chris Holmes, the 19 years old Leeds-born driver is in his third year of single seater racing, competing in British  Formula  BMW  in  2005  as  well  as  2006.  Franck  Mailleux  participated  in  the French Formula Renault and started his racing career with karting in 1998.

The driver line-up  for  the  first  day  is  completed  by  Juan  Manuel  Polar.  The  Peruvian  started karting  in  1996  and  after  two  years  in  Formula  Dodge,  he  moved  to  Mexican  and British  Formula  Renault,  until  he  came  to  Spain  where  he  competed  in  the  Spanish Formula 3 Cup in 2006. The second day will see Bruno Mendez, Nil Montserrat, Stefanos Kamitsakis and Arturo Llobell behind the wheels. Bruno Mendez, the 16 year old vice-champion of the Master Junior Formula, started karting in 1998 before switching to formula racing in 2006. Nil Montserrat participated in the Spanish Formula 3 Cup in 2005 and made the jump to the Spanish Formula 3 Championship in 2006. Stefanos Kamatsakis is an experienced Greek karting driver, who is at the point of stepping up to formula racing, which  is  his  goal  for  2007.  Arturo  Llobell,  the  18  year  old  driver  from  Valencia, competed  in  karting,  Spanish  Formula  Renault  1600  and  won  the  Formula  Baviera- BMW  in  2004. 

In  2005  Arturo  won  the  Spanish  Formula  3  Cup.  While  in  2006,  he competed in the Spanish Formula 3 Championship. Alfonso de Orleáns-Borbón: “It was really difficult to choose these eight drivers as we received many good applications. However, I think that with these youngsters, we have  a  very  interesting  mixture  of  rookies  and  experienced  drivers.  I  am  looking forward to these two test days and I am eager to see these boys in our cars.”
