Watts wins in Carrera Cup Asia
Danny Watts completed a superb season by winning the final race of the season in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia on Sunday (19 November). After scoring ten wins in the Carrera Cup GB through the season, the Buckingham racer turned in a mighty performance around the Macau street circuit to dominate the 12th and final round of Carrera Cup Asia.Racing for the Gates GR Asia team, Watts took pole position on the track that is generally regarded as one of the most demanding in the world. "I'm absolutely delighted," said Danny. "A lot of thanks go to team manager Simon Leonard who has helped us get a good set up on the car in a very short time. It's great to be back on my favourite track where I've raced for the last three years in Formula 3. I just want to get in to the first corner first in the race, because it's very hard to overtake on this circuit."That is exactly what Danny did in the race and he went on to win by more than eight seconds after a consummate display. "I love coming back here and look forward to it all year," said Watts on the top of the podium. "I wanted a win at Macau on my CV, and hope this will lead to bigger and better things. I really want to do the Porsche Supercup next season."
