A Day at the Races...

Legal secretary Helen Chapman drives to work in a humble Citroen but will soon be hurtling round a race track in a 160mph Jaguar racing car after making a successful charity bid for "Childen in Need."

The 35-year old self-confessed "petrol-head"  paid £13,500 (POUNDS) on Terry Wogan's R2 "Things Money Can't Buy" auction last week for the chance to lap Silverstone.

She will join the new "Big Cat" racing team for its debut race at a major international meeting at the Northamptonshire circuit and even get the chance to help out in the pits.

"I am a bit nervous but absolutely thrilled. The highlight will be sitting next to a proper racing driver to see how they do it - it will be a fabulously experience," said Helen from Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.

Boss of the team which will be running six of the V8 supercharged 400bhp monsters next season Richard Lloyd said:"It will be a unique opportunity for Helen to join us on race weekend - and to sit beside one of the drivers for some really fast laps.

"We are really pleased to help such a good cause - I have been one of Terry's Old Geezer fans for years so it is a chance to give something back."

The event will mark Jaguar's long-awaited return to top-flight racing and it will be up against Ferraris, Porsches, Aston Martins and Maseratis in races all over Europe.
