Brit Pack Boost for British GP

Tickets for the 2007 FORMULA 1™ British Grand Prix (6-8 July) have been selling faster than mince  pies  this  week,  following  confirmation  that  both Lewis Hamilton and Anthony Davidson will  be  joining  Jenson  Button  and  David  Coulthard  on  the  starting  grid  at  next  year’s  British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

It  will  be  the  first  time  in  five  years  (since  the  2002  season)  that  the  passionate  Silverstone crowd  is  able  to  get  behind  four  British  drivers  –  just  under  a  fifth  of  the  F1  grid  –  and  the famous Northamptonshire circuit is already experiencing an increase in demand for tickets.

Richard Phillips, Managing Director of Silverstone Circuits Limited, commented, “It’s great that we now have four British drivers confirmed for next year. We’ve always said that a successful British driver, or a strong British interest for the fans, helps sell tickets. Jenson Button and David Coulthard have always enjoyed huge support from the home crowd at Silverstone, and Lewis Hamilton received a fantastic reception when he won both GP2 races here in 2006. Having four drivers to cheer on will certainly add spice from a fans point of view.

“It’s only been a week since Lewis’ drive was announced, and two weeks since Anthony was confirmed at Super Aguri, but we’ve already seen an increase in ticket sales. The last time we saw a reaction like this was after Jenson won in Hungary, so we’re hoping it’s a sign of things to come.”

Phillips also confirmed that ticket sales for the 2007 FORMULA 1™ British Grand Prix are up compared to this time in 2005, “Ticket sales for next year’s British Grand Prix were up on this year’s figures before Anthony Davidson’s and Lewis Hamilton’s drives were announced.

Fans have been making the most of being able to buy discounted tickets through our Early Booking Offer¹ (available until 31 January, 2007), and a couple of grandstands have already sold out.” Phillips added,  “Ticket sales have gone well to date, and we would strongly recommend fans book early if they want to secure seats on their favourite section of the circuit.”

Tickets for the 2007 FORMULA 1™ British Grand Prix are now on sale and can be booked at silverstone.co.uk, or by calling 08704 588 300 1.
