Grand-Am unveils new logo family 2007

As the last on-track activity of 2006 for the Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Special Reserve winds down at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Grand-Am President Roger Edmondson unveiled Wednesday a new logo family for the company heading into 2007.

“I am happy to announce that for the first time we have a family of logos that were designed in unison and fully complement each other,” Edmondson said.  “We certainly were not opposed to this in the past but circumstances never really allowed us to launch a complete collection of corporate logos until now.  The addition of KONI as the title sponsor of the new Grand-Am KONI Challenge Series was the first step in this process and we are also grateful to our friends at Rolex who were more than cooperative in allowing us to move forward with these new designs.”

The new corporate logos are designed to both simplify and connect the organization’s overall brand, image and its racing series.  The traditional “surfboard” logo has been modernized and features the more concise and popular “Grand-Am” branding.  At the same time, new and complementary logos for the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Special Reserve and the Grand-Am KONI Challenge Series have been introduced, each featuring the new Grand-Am logo.

In concert with the new logo introduction, Edmondson also announced that although Grand American Road Racing Association will remain the legal corporate name of the organization, going forward the company will be referred to simply as Grand-Am.

“We are best known as Grand-Am and that will be reinforced as our name going forward," Edmondson said.  "In an ever expanding and crowded marketplace, short and easy to remember monikers work best and our research has shown us that Grand-Am is our best known name and has the best chance to be popularized in the future."

All logos in the new family replace all existing applications and will be used commencing with the 2007 racing season.  A complete style guide and downloadable versions of the entire new logo family are now available at grand-am.com.

-          Grand-Am is the proper reference for the organization.  Although Grand American Road Racing Association remains the legal corporate name of the organization, Grand-Am is the new general use moniker.  In all usages, Grand-Am is hyphenated.  Grand American should no longer be used.

-          The Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Special Reserve is the proper and official name of the series and should be used in all first references.  Acceptable second references include the Grand-Am Rolex Series or the Rolex Series.

-          The Grand-Am KONI Challenge Series is the proper and official name of the series and should be used in all first references.  The acceptable second reference is the KONI Challenge.
