Mmmm...Enclose some PR from safespeed - I am sure if a political agenda was removed from the speeding debate - The Police would agree that exceeding the speed limit isn't necessarily dangerous.
PR BELOW:
Inspector Paul Gee, of Durham Police, head of their driving school has been caught by a speed camera doing 118mph on the M9 in Scotland.
Paul Smith, founder of the Safe Speed road safety campaign(www.safespeed.org.uk) said: "This case, once again, indicates hypocrisy of the highest order. The Police tell us that exceeding the speed limit is dangerous, then once again get caught way over the speed limit."
"It's extraordinary doublethink - The Police must stop lying to us about the dangers of speeding. Clearly they know full well that exceeding the speed limit isn't necessarily dangerous."
"Safe Speed knows that it is extremely important that no one drives too fast. However the speed limit isn't an adequate or even useful indicator of 'too fast' under most circumstances. That's because it takes no account of the immediate conditions. But drivers must take full account of the conditions and the road safety data tells us that generally they are very good at doing so."
