Jordan set for twin programme in 2007
Andrew Jordan is set for the biggest season of his career to date in 2007 when he combines twin assaults on the Elf Renault Clio Cup and the MSA British Rallycross Championship.Jordan, who will still be 17 years old when the season starts, will race for Team Eurotech in the all-new Clio and continue with the Ford Focus of Will Gollop's team in rallycross. Subject to confirmation of final dates, there are no clashes between the two series."Our definite aim is to win the British Rallycross title," says Jordan. "But with the Clio this will be very much a learning year and it would be silly to expect to be challenging for podiums straightaway. I will be doing the two things I love and to be able to all the rounds of both championships is fantastic. It's going to be a very big year for me and I feel very lucky to have the chance to do this."Jordan believes that he now has the pace to go all-out for the rallycross title in the Focus. "I gained a lot of experience last year and we were quickest overall at Croft for the final round. I'm very determined to win the title next year." In July he became the youngest ever winner in the British Rallycross Championship when he won overall at Knockhill.Meanwhile, the Clio campaign, which will be run alongside the BTCC car of his father Mike, is very much being treated as a learning season. "We did think about the BTCC, but there are some tracks I've not even driven at yet," says Andrew. "There will be so many good people on the Clio grid that we're not expecting any heroics straightaway. I just want to learn and make progress as the year goes on. I can’t wait to get my hands on the Clio and start testing."Backing for the twin campaigns has come from sponsors such as John Guest and Pirtek, companies already closely involved with the Team Eurotech BTCC campaign. "It's great that the collective team of sponsors that we have around us have provided the backing to allow Andrew to do this," says Mike Jordan.
