2007 will see the launch of the Compact M3 Cup, which in its inaugural year will join forces with the Legend Fires MSA Asphalt Rally Championship.

The Compact M3 Cup has received approval from the Motor Sports Association to be associated with Britain's premier asphalt series.

The Compact M3 Cup will offer two categories to registered competitors, a Full Specification and a Cup category.

"It is an exciting time for us at present, having been granted approval from the MSA and to be linked to such a strong championship in our first year." explained series co-ordinator Gwyn Williams.

"There has been a lot of interest in the Compact M3 Cup cars and until now we have not been in a position to give them anywhere to compete on equal ground. The championship calendar will be a true test for men and machine, using six tarmac rallies which are rated among the best the UK and Ireland have to offer."

While the Compact M3 Cup will be in its first year during 2007, initial plans are for the series to develop and grow over the next five years.

"The car is currently best suited to tarmac, but that does not rule out the Compact M3 Cup hosting a gravel championship in the future. It certainly offers a modern day alternative away from World Rally Cars at an affordable price."
