Jenzer Motorsport first to speak on International Formula Master signing
With 26 cars signed up for its inaugural season, International Formula Master has clearly impressed the industry with its combination of high media exposure and racing potential.
One of the first teams to order its car was Jenzer Motorsport, which has two Formula S2000s on order and options on a third. The Swiss team decided to make the switch from World Series by Renault, drawn by the promise of an exceptional car and an extremely strong promotional package, including live broadcast of all races on Eurosport.
It was this, and International Formula Master’s participation in the FIA World Touring Car Championship package, that sealed the deal for Team owner, Andreas Jenzer. “We are a team based in Switzerland and we need good media coverage and I think Formula Master is going to get it with the World Touring Cars,” he said. “It’s FIA and I went to a few meetings last year. You see the good journalists there and the level of people who are working for the manufacturers is really high. For me TV coverage, especially Eurosport, for a multi-national series is very important.”
The Formula S2000 has been a collaboration between International Formula Master Series founder, N.Technology, Series partner, Yokohama and technical partners Tatuus and Heini Mader Racing Components. Speaking of the car, Jenzer said he was looking forward to his first glimpse at it this Thursday (January 11th), when it is unveiled at the Autosport International Show, Birmingham.
“I’ve only managed to see some pictures of the car, but I’ve known Tatuus for many years and I am 100% positive that a lot of people will have a big surprise when it is unveiled,” he said. “It’s been a few years since Tatuus developed a car from scratch, and I know they want to make a big impression. I think they want to show the world they can do a very nice job. I have known for years they are able to do something special like this and now they have the chance to do it.”
Jenzer has already confirmed that Suisse driver, Rahel Frey, will take one seat and the 20-year-old will be at the 2pm unveiling in Birmingham tomorrow (Thursday). The second seat is still to be confirmed.
