A MECACHROME 500 BHP ENGINE IS READY
After the announcement in December of an aerodynamic restyling, the 2007 Formula 3000 now has new heart: a deal has been signed between Mecachrome and Coloni Motorsportfor the engine supply of the Championship starting from this season.
The French Engine Manufacturer, already engaged also in GP2 and Grand Prix Masters, hasshown a big interest in the Series and has decided to invest its proved experience in realizinga specific 500 BHP engine for the F.3000, at which we can now think as the GP2 youngersister.
This is a V8 90°, 3,4 liter engine with a quite moderate weight (123 Kg) and the chance tocover up to 4.000 Km between services. The control unit is a Magneti Marelli Marvel 8.Moreover, thanks to a big commitment by Mecachrome, the teams will not only have at theirdisposal a more powerful modern engine, but the costs will also remain unchanged.A big enthusiasm and strong motivations have been shown by both the sides:Enzo Coloni, Coloni Motorsport President: “I would like to thank Mecachrome for the bigattention given to us and for having trusted and invested in our Championship. Tthe new calendar which is made of 16 races, with four rounds inEurope and four in Italy: Vallelunga (22/4), Misano (06/05), Hungaroring (17/06), Magny Cours(15/07), Mugello (22/07), Nurburgring (26/08), Monza (23/09), Spa (14/10).
