Lloyds continue To Champion British F3

Lloyds TSB Insurance, one of the UK’s largest providers of general insurance, has confirmed its commitment to the UK’s leading single seater race series by continuing as title sponsor for the 2007 season.  Lloyds TSB Insurance, which provides financial protection to over 5 million customers through its motor, travel, home, pet, business and creditor insurance products, became title sponsor to the British F3 International Series in March 2006.

“We are extremely pleased that Lloyds TSB Insurance has decided to renew its title sponsorship of the British Formula 3 International Series; the prospects for year two of this partnership are very exciting,” said SRO Chairman Stephane Ratel.  “After a successful 2006, we are looking forward to building upon the proven marketing and promotional strength of the British F3 International Series and Lloyds TSB Insurance relationship."

“British F3 has become an intrinsic part of our marketing activity and 2006 really helped to raise awareness and interest in our brand – particularly for motor insurance,” commented Lloyds TSB Insurance Senior Marketing Manager Gary Hurry. “From a business perspective it was an easy decision to renew for 2007 and we look forward to being part of the thrills, spills and competitive racing ahead.  We’re proud to continue our association.”

British Formula 3 International is the world’s leading Formula 3 Championship and the UK’s most prestigious single seater motorsport category. Past Champions and driver stars include Ayrton Senna, Mika Hakkinen, Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill, Nelson Piquet, Rubens Barrichello and Jenson Button.  The next generation of Formula One stars continue to choose British F3 as the place to develop their talent, and these have included the return of famous motorsport family names. In 2004 Nelson Piquet Jnr. lifted the British F3 title and is now the official test driver for Renault F1. Bruno Senna, nephew of Ayrton Senna, has just completed two years in British F3, winning five races in 2006.

Continuing this trend, Leo and Greg Mansell, sons of 1992 F1 Champion Nigel Mansell, will compete in the Championship Class with Fortec Motorsport for the 2007 season; they will be accompanied on the grid by rising driver stars from all over the world. The series will consist of 22 rounds at 11 events, visiting the premier circuits of the UK, as well as overseas venues in Italy, Romania and Belgium. The first event of the season is on the 9th April at Oulton Park, Cheshire, UK.
